Mission:
Groq is looking for a System Administrator with broad experience across multiple technologies while having deep experience in key areas (Jack of all trades, master of some). This role will work to automate what can be automated, and handle the hands-on tasks that are a part of supporting a dynamic and growing company.
As a part of the IT team, this role will support daily operations, drive strategic initiatives, and work across multiple departments to help Groq continue to scale. This role will also be involved in developing infrastructure strategy, scaling systems, and leading cross-functional IT projects.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
  • Maintain highly effective and professional communication with internal customers and partner groups
  • Responsible for System Administration and Management across several platforms, including Linux, macOS and Windows
  • Troubleshoot issues from basic help desk tickets to complex system problems.
  • Automate routine tasks and key systems
  • Develop and execute project plans
  • Work closely with Information Security, Facilities and other departments
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Provide a quality onboarding and offboarding experience
  • Travel occasionally for new office setup, system rollouts, and executive support
  • Support and mentor helpdesk staff, ensuring both effective troubleshooting and professional development
  • Evaluate, design, and implement scalable IT solutions to support company growth
  • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements across systems and services
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum qualifications:
  • 5+ years of System Administration across Linux, macOS and Windows
  • Professional experience using MDM tools (Microsoft InTune preferred)
  • Familiarity with common configuration management systems (saltstack, ansible, terraform)
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Solid understanding and experience with Networking (e.g. DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls)
  • Administration of common business systems (e.g. Google Workspace, M365, Okta)
  • Cloud Administration experience (GCP, AWS, Azure, OCI)
  • Detail Oriented and Highly Organized
  • Experienced working effectively with outside vendors and groups
  • A flexible mindset when it comes to technology as a solution
  • Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience supporting individuals with a wide range of technical skills, knowledge and experience
  • Proven scripting/automation experience (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for system administration and task automation
  • Understanding of where and how to apply security principles into IT
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Curiosity and an open mind in using AI/ML technologies to solve IT problems
  • Direct experience with Okta, Google Workspace, InTune, Terraform
  • Deep Windows, macOS and Linux administration experience
  • Experience setting up and maintaining offices and sites (e.g., deploying networking, conference rooms, access control).
  • Experience providing technical support for executives and board members with a focus on high availability and discretion.
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity planning experience
  • Familiarity with lab/server environments

Compensation: At Groq, a competitive base salary is part of our comprehensive compensation package, which includes equity and benefits. For this role, salary range is determined by your location, skills, qualifications, experience and internal benchmarks. Compensation for candidates outside the USA will be dependent on the local market.
