Mission
As the VP, Global Controller at Groq, you will lead our financial operations with precision and strategic insight, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and scalable processes. Reporting to the CFO, this executive will lead all core accounting operations, shaping financial infrastructure for growth and IPO readiness. This visible, cross-functional role includes global compliance, financial reporting, internal controls, tax, treasury, and system design, while partnering with leadership on financial strategy, risk, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Financial Leadership: Oversee all accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), and International Entity Accounting. Ensure accuracy and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and tax compliance.
- Scalability & Process Optimization: Develop and implement scalable financial systems and processes that support rapid growth. Lead the financial systems strategy, with oversight of ERP (NetSuite) and revenue recognition tools, emphasizing automation and efficiency.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX readiness, tax regulations, and industry standards to mitigate risk and safeguard the organization.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership to align on financial strategy, integrity of SaaS metrics, and cross-functional business analysis.
- Automation & Public Company Readiness: Leverage AI-driven tools and automation to improve reporting accuracy and optimize workflows. Lead IPO readiness initiatives, ensuring processes, systems, and governance align with public company standards.
- Audit & Treasury: Manage relationships with external auditors and advisors, overseeing 409A valuations, annual audits, and tax planning. Direct cash flow reporting, working capital management, and investment strategies to optimize liquidity.
- Team Development: Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing global accounting team. Drive succession planning, leadership development, and a strong culture of accountability and excellence.

Ideal candidates have/are:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. Active CPA license required.
- Candidates should possess a minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity such as CAO, Controller, Vice President, or an equivalent position.
- Demonstrated leadership in a late-stage private or publicly traded SaaS organization, with a successful history of IPO preparation and/or operations within a public company context.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP. Particular focus on revenue recognition, lease accounting, and international consolidation, is preferred.
- A strategic systems thinker possessing expertise in enterprise finance platforms (e.g., NetSuite, revenue automation tools). Demonstrates a proactive interest in and understanding of financial innovation, including automation and AI-driven efficiencies.
- Demonstrated executive presence and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence at the board and C-level. Global leadership experience and international compliance exposure are strongly preferred.

Compensation:
At Groq, a competitive base salary is part of our comprehensive compensation package, which includes equity and benefits. For this role, the base salary range is $331,806 to $448,914, determined by your skills, qualifications, experience and internal benchmarks.
Location:
Groq is a geo-agnostic company, meaning you work where you are. Exceptional candidates will thrive in asynchronous partnerships and remote collaboration methods. Some roles may require being located near our primary sites, as indicated in the job description.
