Loft Orbital is looking for a Test Infrastructure Engineer to be part of the team responsible for building and maintaining Loft’s test infrastructure across our San Francisco, CA, Golden, CO and Toulouse, France sites.
As a Test Infrastructure Engineer, you will be part of the team managing the virtual and physical test assets used by engineers throughout the company. You and your team will deploy and maintain Loft automated test tools (CI/CD pipelines in Gitlab), processes, and physical assets (hardware-in-the-loop test benches, electrical ground support systems, etc). You and your teammates will also gather and implements requirements from Loft engineers for test infrastructure improvements.

About the role:

  • Designing, developing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting the automation used to control Loft’s test infrastructure, with a focus on integration and test occurring on flight vehicles on-site in Golden, Colorado
  • Working with the Test Infrastructure team to improve automation and user experience with Loft’s next generation of Hardware in the Loop test benches
  • Communicating with cross-disciplinary teams to understand and solve problems with Loft’s automated test infrastructure

Must Haves:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and effectively communicate issues and solutions
  • Familiarity with Linux system management
  • Recent Python experience
  • Understanding of APIs and the ability to interact with different types of APIs
  • Competency with one or more scripting languages
  • Scrappy and inventive: you will be working with cutting edge technologies and proprietary tools

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with one or more continuous integration tools
  • Understanding of how to create, configure, and manage Docker containers
  • Recent experience setting up Gitlab CI/CD pipelines
  • Aptitude for gathering requirements from multiple stakeholders and implementing test infrastructure improvements
  • Hands-on experience involving embedded hardware, such Raspberry Pis, Arduinos, microcontrollers, or similar (can be personal or professional experience)
  • Experience with DevOps systems such as Ansible, Salt, Prometheus, Grafana, Meraki, etc.
  • Knowledge of assembly, integration, and test best practices
  • Experience in production environments (aerospace, automotive, consumer, etc)
  • Understanding of Linux system administration
  • Background in network administration
