About Numeral

Numeral is transforming how taxes get done. Digital businesses are buried under a painful web of regulations across 47 states and 50+ countries. We're eliminating this burden so teams can focus on their core mission.

We're the largest and fastest-growing AI-native tax solution. Founded in 2023, Numeral has raised over $57M from Benchmark, Mayfield, Y Combinator, and many others. We serve over 3,000 paying customers and have more than tripled our revenue every year since launch. We're primarily hiring in our SF and NY offices but do hire remotely in some cases.

About the role

We're looking somebody who solves business problems, not coordination problems. You'll own a product area end-to-end — from identifying what to build, to prototyping it yourself, to shipping it with engineering, to making sure customers actually adopt it. This is not a role where you write strategy docs and hand them off. You're on the field, every day, moving the product forward.

The right person for this role sees a gap, builds a prototype to test the idea, can put their thoughts into writing, and drives it to market. You're comfortable talking to customers, digging into data, and using today’s tools to go from thought to something tangible before you've even scheduled the kickoff meeting.

We have an excellent engineering team and strong product execution. What we need is someone who can take that execution and make sure the full picture works — discovery, planning, and go-to-market. You'll be the connective tissue between engineering, design, sales, and customers.

What you'll do

  • Own product areas end-to-end. You'll take a problem from discovery through launch. No one is going to hand you a roadmap — you'll build it from customer conversations, data, and your own judgment.

  • Talk to customers constantly. You'll spend real time understanding how businesses handle taxes and accounting, what breaks, and what a 10x better solution looks like.

  • Prototype before you write. We use Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and every other AI tool daily. When you have an idea, you build something people can touch and react to. The docs come after the prototype proves the concept.

  • Drive forward. Product development is the easy part. You'll own the harder work: getting engineering, design, sales, and operations working on what matters. Planning the launch. Making sure customers actually adopt what we build.

  • Make trade-offs. You can think rigorously about where to invest limited resources. You don't just have opinions — you have data and the intellectual honesty to change your mind when the evidence says so.

  • Communicate with clarity. You write well. You can take a complex idea, distill it into something the entire company understands, and build conviction around it.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally including time at a high-growth company or as a founder building 0-to-1.

  • A bias toward action. You'd rather ship something imperfect on Tuesday than present a perfect plan on Friday.

  • Fluency with AI-assisted development. You use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or similar to build prototypes, analyze data, and move faster than people expect a PM to move.

  • Quantitative rigor. You can model trade-offs, interpret usage data, and make resource allocation decisions that hold up under scrutiny.

  • Exceptional written communication. You can write a one-pager that gets an engineer excited to build, a sales rep confident to sell, and a customer eager to try.

  • A genuine desire to talk to customers. Not as a checkbox — you actually enjoy understanding their problems and translating that into product decisions.

  • Startup intensity. We're scaling rapidly. This is not a 9-to-5. You care about winning, and when something isn't working, you say so and fix it.

Even better

  • You've been a founder or early employee at a startup (you know what it's like to do everything yourself).

  • You can build: enough to prototype, query a database, or whip up a quick tool.

  • You've launched new product lines, not just iterated on existing ones.

  • Experience running beta programs and managing the discovery-to-launch pipeline.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and equity — you'll share directly in the company's success

  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Wellness perks including Headspace and the Peloton One App

  • 401(k) to help you build long-term financial security

  • Lunch, dinner, and snacks when you're in the office

  • Regular team offsites and company events

  • A culture built on ownership — your work matters and people will see it
