About the role:
As the Senior Tax Specialist, you’ll lead strategy, operational improvements, input into special filings and key growth projects for Numeral. You’ll work closely with leadership, the broader Ops team, product, and engineering to ensure accuracy, process discipline, and operational excellence.
To succeed in this role, you need to have deep indirect tax expertise as well as analytical skills.
What you’ll do:
Inform strategy for core filings & new areas of growth: Drive continuous improvements to our AI-driven and ops paired tax workflows
Guide and build robust guardrails for special filings: Drive complex and specialized tax filings for our key clients
Champion automation and usage of AI: Bring automation and AI to your workflow to reduce repetitive tasks for highest leverage and productivity.
Ensure compliance and accuracy: Troubleshoot discrepancies in accounting or filings, and lead research projects on new regulatory rules
Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with product and engineering to communicate business issues, escalate risks, and contribute to operational solutions.
What you’ll bring:
5+ years of demonstrated domain expertise in U.S. indirect tax – international experience is a plus.
Experience in a startup that scaled and a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with regulatory reporting systems, tools, or platforms used in finance and filings.
Strong analytical and Excel/data skills.
Strong communication skills.
Critical thinker with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Proven ability to work cross functionally with product and engineering.
Startup mindset: Not scared of ambiguity and hungry for rapid growth
Experience in e-commerce, SaaS or Fintech is highly preferred.
