About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated and bright Database Engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment & is comfortable in contributing fresh ideas. You will become an integral part of the design, creation, testing, and deployment process of bringing modernized and improved products to the healthcare field.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development of the database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system
Assist in the building and maintaining of Simplifeye product features and services
Be an integral part of the product development team by assisting in the development of our roadmap and product architecture
Prioritize stability and performance among multiple competing priorities
Promote database design best practices
Improve operational processes and documentation
Maintain code quality through code reviews and rigorous testing
Develop features while maintaining security and compliance standards. Our systems work heavily with Protected Health Information (PHI) - we therefore need to maintain strict HIPAA compliance across our entire stack

Qualifications:

BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Ability to occasionally commute to New York Office in SoHo for important meetings
Working knowledge in database systems architecture, including networking, security, scaling, and fault-tolerance
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.)
Proficiency tuning databases for performance, availability and scalability
Experience with Git or similar source code versioning tools and coding standards
Strong technical documentation skills
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with clear communication

Preferred Experience:

3+ years of experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or similar role
3+ years experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
2+ years of experience in big data technologies
2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices
